Interested in Singing in Our state’s Premier Chorus — The New Mexico Symphonic Chorus?

Chorus member auditions for our 2019-20 season will be Aug. 16, 17, 18, 23, 24 at the Monte Vista Christian Church. Anticipated concert selections during 2020 include Orff’s Carmina Burana (for a NMPhil concert), and for our 2019-20 season — Mozart’s Mass in C Minor (“The Great Mass”), KV 427, for chorus, soloists and orchestra; Antonin Dvorák’s In Nature, op. 63; Charles Ives’ Psalm 90 for chorus, organ and bells; Arvo Pärt’s Magnificat; Henryk Górecki’s Totus Tuus, op. 60; John Rutter’s Gloria for chorus, brass, percussion and organ; Jason Robert Brown’s Chanukah Suite for chorus and piano; Claudio Monteverd’s Magnificat II.

NEW MEXICO SYMPHONIC CHORUS AUDITION REQUIREMENTS

Each audition will take about 20 minutes and will include the following:

  • A prepared, accompanied piece from classic or folk repertoire or the hymn of your choice. An excellent accompanist will be provided; please bring your music.

  • Vocalizations, to assess vocal quality and range.

  • Sight reading of your vocal line from one or two choral selections. This will be accompanied by the remaining parts, played on the piano.
